What actually happens, and when.
The surface smell goes with it. The area feels barely damp and dries naturally. If it feels wet, you have overdone it: lighter next time, and it will carry further.
This is the part a spray never gets to. The cultures are still working on what soaked through, so the smell that used to creep back on a warm day should be noticeably weaker rather than simply covered.
Anything that reached the padding or the boards takes more than one treatment. Treat again after 24 hours, then leave it. Expect it to fade rather than vanish overnight, and judge it by whether somebody who doesn't live there notices.
The light is a torch, not a claim.
The LED sits beside the nozzle so you can see what you are pointing at. Dried marks read against the pile in a darkened room, which means you treat the actual spot instead of the general area, and you can go back and check the same patch afterwards.
